Surveys on What Atheists and Christians Believe

I found these graphs on Sam Harris' website, from an online survey he conducted in May. Since the survey didn't use random sampling, these numbers shouldn't be treated as accurate, but it's still pretty interesting. There were about 5000 respondents, mostly Atheists, of whom about 250-700 were Christians.

Could be that Atheists are generally of more-than-average intelligence...or that they're more full of themselves...

Makes sense. If you're more skeptical of UFOs, you're probably more skeptical of God. And vice versa.

More graphs here. (Scroll to the links at the bottom of the page.)

Although, I would certainly be interested to see a study where the number of participants in each group is more even, this is pretty telling.

Respondents in the two groups report similar levels of reading, knowledge of current world events, and scientific literacy, and yet they are completely split on evolution. So what "science articles" are the folks in red actually reading?

Also, theists and non-theists alike claim to be sensitive to the suffering of other people. Yet an alarming number of theists think that women should be subservient to men?

Would be nice to break it down further by degree of "religiosity" if such a thing is possible.
